Subject of the commemorative coin:
 Special 2 euro coin in honour of the Year of Paul – the 2000th anniversary of his birth.

 Description of the design:
 The coin depicts the conversion of Paul on the road to Damascus (background). Blinded by a heavenly light, he falls from his rearing horse. To the left of the image is the country of issuance, “CITTÀ DEL VATICANO”, to the right the inscription “ANNO SANCTO PAULO DICATO” and the year “2008”, the mint mark “R” and the name of the artist, “VEROI”. Below the image are the initials of the engraver, “LDS INC.”, Luciana De Simoni. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European Union.
