 Description of the design:
 The centre of the coin features Cologne Cathedral, with a comet above it. The inscription “XX GIORNATA MONDIALE DELLA GIOVENTÙ” is shown in an arc across the upper part of the central section, interrupted by the comet’s tail and two of the spires, one of which extends into the outer ring of the coin. The upper part of the outer ring features twelve stars in an arc, interrupted at the top by the year of issue (2005) and the mint mark “R”.
