Santiago de CompostelaDescription:
The city of Santiago de Compostela was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 for its urban beauty and intact monuments, together with the resonance of its spiritual and cultural importance during the Middle Ages: the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. The Camino de Santiago (Way of Santiago de Compostela or Way of St. James) is a large network of ancient pilgrimage routes across Europe that converge at the tomb of St. James in Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain. The design features the image of St. James as the central figure of the sculptures surrounding the Puerta Santa of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. At the left, in semi-circle, is the word “ESPAÑA”, at the bottom left the year of issue “2018” and below that the mint mark. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag.
