Subject of the commemorative coin:
300th anniversary of the construction of the first atmospheric steam engine in continental Europe

Description:
The design shows an atmospheric steam engine for pumping water from mines, built in 1722 in the mining town of Nová Baňa, the first of its kind on the European mainland. The engine was designed and built by the English engineer Isaac Potter, whose facsimile signature appears laterally, on two lines, at the bottom left of the design. To the right of the engine, again laterally, is the name of the issuing country “SLOVENSKO” and to the right of that the years “1722” and “2022”, separated by a dot in the middle. On the left side of the inner part of the coin is the mint mark of the Kremnica Mint (Mincovňa Kremnica), consisting of the letters “MK” between two dies, with the stylised initials of the designer of the national side, Peter Valach, underneath. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
