 Slovakia's first presidency of the European Union

 Description of the design:
 The centre of the design prominently features the coat of arms of the Slovak Republic against a background of dynamic centripetal lines, representing the position and importance of the Slovak Republic during its Presidency of the Council of the European Union. To the right of the coat of arms of the Slovak Republic is the year ‘2016’. The name of the country ‘SLOVENSKO’ (Slovakia) and the inscription ‘PREDSEDNÍCTVO SR V RADE EÚ’ (Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU) are depicted along the edge of the inner circle, separated by graphic symbols. The mint mark of the Kremnica Mint – the letters ‘MK’ between two dies – and the stylised initials of the designer of the national side, Vladimír Pavlica, ‘VP’, appear in the lower part of the design. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
