Description of the design:
The coin features a portrait of Bramante and part of the Tempietto (Italian for “little temple”), a commemorative monument possibly built by Bramante in the courtyard of San Pietro in Montorio as early as 1502 and considered one of the highlights of Italian High Renaissance architecture. In an almost complete circle around this image is the inscription “BRAMANTE LAZZARI DELLE PENNE DI SAN MARINO”. On the left and right are the dates “1514” and “2014” respectively. At the bottom are the initials “MCC” of the designer (Maria Carmela Colaneri) and the mint mark. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European Union.
