 100th anniversary of the first crossing of the South Atlantic Ocean by plane

 Description:
 This crossing was accomplished using only internal navigational aids: a modified sextant and a course corrector. The design shows one of the three Fairey III biplanes that made the flight between Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. The inscription “TRAVESSIA DO ATLÂNTICO SUL” (South Atlantic Crossing) is along the edge. Under the aircraft is the inscription “PORTUGAL 1922-2022”. The mint mark is “CASA DA MOEDA”, the Portuguese name of the mint. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
