Subject of the commemorative coin:
 730th anniversary of the founding of the University of Coimbra

 Description of the design:
 The design features the tower of the University of Coimbra and a visual composition of triangles representing the roofs of the University of Coimbra, the highest of which depicts the Joanina Library. Between the triangles is the inscription “UNIVERSIDADE DE COIMBRA 730 ANOS PORTUGAL 2020” (UNIVERSITY OF COIMBRA 730 YEARS OF PORTUGAL 2020). The outer ring of the coin features the 12 stars of the European flag.
