Subject of the commemorative coin:
 150th anniversary of the founding of the Public Security Police (PSP)

 Description of the design:
 The coin features human figures and buildings, symbolic representations of citizens and cities (where public safety is mainly ensured), as well as the stylised police symbol. The inscriptions include the year ‘1867’ and the year of issuance ‘2017’, the issuing country ‘PORTUGAL’, the subject of the commemorative coin (‘SEGURANÇA PÚBLICA’ – public safety), the three main aspects related to citizenship (‘DIREITOS’, ‘LIBERDADES’ and ‘GARANTIAS’ – rights, freedoms and guarantees), as well as the name of the designer JOSÉ DE GUIMARÃES. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag.
