Subject of the commemorative coin:
 The Maltese honey bee

 Description:
 The design was created by Maria Anna Frisone and features the Maltese honeybee (Apis mellifera ruttneri), one of the endemic animal and plant species of the Maltese Islands. The design depicts the bee with a flower and honeycomb in the background. The coin raises awareness of one of Malta’s endemic species and depicts the work of the bee, which pollinates flowers and produces honey. On the left side is the inscription of the issuing country, “MALTA”, and on the right side the year of issuance, “2024”. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
