Subject of the commemorative coin:
Upper Lithuania (second in the 'Ethnographic Regions' series)

Description of the design:
The coin features a coat of arms with a knight in armor holding a sword in his right hand. The coat of arms is carried by two angels who symbolically glorify and protect Aukštaitija, one of the most important regions and the cradle of Lithuanian statehood. At the bottom is the Latin inscription “PATRIAM TUAM MUNDUM EXISTIMA” (CONSIDER YOUR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AS THE WHOLE WORLD). This design is also surrounded by the inscriptions “LIETUVA” (the country of issuance), “AUKŠTAITIJA”, the year of issuance “2020” and the mint mark of the Lithuanian Mint. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
