 Description of the design:
 The central image of the coin is the skyline of Riga and its historic city centre, which is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Above the image is the inscription ‘EIROPAS KULTURAS GALVASPILSETA’ (European Capital of Culture); below it is the name of the city and the year of issuance ‘RIGA — 2014’, and underneath ‘LV’, the indication of the issuing country. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
