Description of the design:
The coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour (1810-1861), a key figure in Italian unification and early Italian liberalism, and the founder of the political newspaper "Il Risorgimento". The coin features a portrait of Cavour, based on a painting by Francesco Hayez from 1864. On the left side are the word "CAVOUR" and the monogram of the Italian Republic "RI". On the right side are the letter "R", the dates "1810" and "2010" and the initials of the designer Claudia Momoni "CM". The 12 stars of the European flag are depicted along the outer ring.
