Description:
The design features the Temple of Asclepius at Epidaurus, with the statue of the god at its centre. The theme is similar to the reverse of a commemorative medal of the first National Assembly of the rebellious Greeks at Epidaurus, which was awarded to members of parliament during the reign of King Otho. The inner ring features the words “HELLENIC REPUBLIC” and “THE FIRST GREEK CONSTITUTION”, as well as the dates “1822” and “2022”, a palmette (the mint mark of the Greek Mint) and the monogram of the designer (George Stamatopoulos). The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
