 Description of the design:
 Jacques Chirac, President of the French Republic for two terms, was a major architect of European construction. He was President when the euro was introduced in 2002, 20 years ago at the beginning of this year. The design shows a profile of President Jacques Chirac looking into the future. He is surrounded by various symbols that mark his presidency: a euro logo, as a sign of his involvement in the introduction of the euro and his European spirit, and a French flag, in heraldic colours and decorated with the letters RF. His dates of birth and death and his name are incorporated into the euro logo. The mint marks and the year of issue fit into the design. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
