Subject of the commemorative coin:
70 Years of the Universal Declaration of Human RightsDescription of the design:
The coin depicts seven steps (representing the seven parishes or administrative divisions of Andorra) in the form of mountains leading down to a valley. The name of the issuing country, “ANDORRA”, and the year of issuance, “2018”, are inscribed in the valley. The steps also form the branches of a tree, symbolising humanity, of which Andorra is an essential part. The branches of the tree are adorned with 30 leaves, representing the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Catalan inscription “70 ANYS DE LA DECLARACIÓ UNIVERSAL DELS DRETS HUMANS” (70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) around the design emphasises this commemoration. The coin’s outer ring features the 12 stars of the European Union.
