History €2 Commemorative Coins
On 15 October 2003, the European Council announced that from 1 January 2004, every country in the eurozone, as well as the three (since 2013 four) non-EU countries with the right to issue euro coins, would have the right to mint commemorative coins.
The first country to respond to this is Greece. This country has had the honor of issuing the first commemorative coin in 2024 with the theme 'Olympic Games'.
Since then, more than 600 commemorative coins have been issued in 24 euro countries.
